This week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the ‘Bits 2 Blogs‘ event in Newcastle. Hosted at the Great North Museum, and run by the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, it gave those working in the North East cultural heritage sector an opportunity to hear about new ideas and technologies for engaging audiences. It was a great event, with many interesting speakers talking about topics from linked data to ‘flip-flopping’ and 3D printers.
I took the opportunity to talk about why social media may not be the best channel for engagement, the benefits of context and narrative, and methods for allowing your audience to enrich your collections.
